Our life sure seems busy...

So, I've resolved myself to the fact that I will probably only have time to post on our blog once a week or so. I had good intentions to do it every day or two, but I don't think that will ever happen. Especially during the summer months when we are super busy with weddings! Right now is our "slow season" and I still can't seem to find the time. Not to say that I don't enjoy our busy life... I really do! Since our last post we've eaten way too much food, that's for sure! It all started last Friday night when we got to have dinner with Olivia Griffin and her husband Matt. Olivia is an amazing new photographer. You've got to check out her website, www.oliviagriffinphotography.com. If anybody ever decides that we're not the right photographer for them, we'd definitely encourage you to look at Olivia and see if she's your perfect fit. She's great!
Then on Saturday night, we got to catch up with some of our best friends and have dinner at the Lazy Goat (see picture below). If you haven't tried the Lazy Goat, you've got to try it. Great atmosphere and great food. We actually ate there again last night and Lindsey is going there on Friday night with her Mom and some friends.
On Monday, we had the day off from Clemson because of the MLK holiday, so we went back to our Greenville office to do some manual labor. Lindsey spent the day inside cleaning and I spent the day on a bobcat in the backyard trying to tear out bamboo that was taking over. I got the bamboo out, but I turned the backyard into a total mud pit. We love the house that we bought to use for our office, but it defintely still needs lots of work! That night a former bride and groom, Sarah & Jonathan, stopped by to do a video interview for us. We are putting together a video to show brides when they first meet with us. I definitely need to note here that I am NOT a videographer!! That became quite evident later that night when I looked back at the video and realized I forgot to turn the microphones on! So, Sarah and Jonathan look great, but you can't hear a word they are saying! They were great sports about it and agreed to come back for take #2. We treated them to dinner that night and we owe them several more for having to come back a second time!
This weekend, we have our first wedding of the year and we are so excited about it. Lois and Michael are such a cute couple and their wedding will be beautiful! I'll post some of our favorites from their wedding next week. Have a great weekend everybody!

Let it snow...

Isn't snow beautiful! There's just something magical about it. Lindsey grew up in Hawaii and I grew up in the south, so snow is always a treat for us both. Could do without the chilly weather that comes with it though! Hope many of you were able to stay at home today and enjoy what's left of the first snow of the year. We decided to brave the weather and come in to the office because we've got exciting stuff to work on... Last night, we got to have dinner with Bobby and Sarah Rettew of Rettew Wedding Videography (www.rettewweddings.com) and we came up with a great idea! We always have brides asking us, "do you also do video?" and our response is always, "no, photography and videography are different art forms and we work hard at being the best photographers... trying to do videography would only take away from that." It'd be like asking your florist to also bake your cake! But we definitely do see the benefit of having a videographer and photographer that work well together. Because you don't want to see your videographer in all of your photos are your photographer in your whole video, so it's beneficial if they know how the other works in order to avoid this. So what we decided to do is to find the best videographer in the area and see if they'd like to offer a joint package. That's how we found Bobby and Sarah. Or maybe I should say 6 (or maybe it's 7) time Emmy award winning Bobby and Sarah! I could go on and on about their resume, but needless to say, they do amazing work! And we are lucky enough to have them be willing to team up with us!! We are still working out the details of our joint package, but here's what we're thinking... You'll get us both for two hours prior until you leave your reception. You'll also still get the wedding slideshow and engagement session from us. Bobby and Sarah will create their photomontage for your rehearsal dinner. Then your final wedding video and photos will be packaged together in a beautiful case. Not only that, but we're going to give 3 of these packages so that you and each set of parents can all have one. All of this will be offered to you at a discounted price from our normal package pricing. What a deal, and we are really excited about it. If you've already booked us and want to change your package to this new one, just give us a call and we'll work out the details. Ok, I'll leave you with a couple of shots I took last night. We were driving home from dinner and came through Clemson. Tons of students were out playing in the snow on Bowman field so, I had to stop and snap a few shots. The snow was really coming down at that point, so I only shot a few quick ones but here they are. -Craig

We've got to get better at this!!

Okay... we had very good intentions to update this blog regularly and we've already fallen behind!! Anyways, we do have a good excuse... we've been extremely busy meeting with brides! We were at the Hyatt Wedding Festival and have had 1-2 meetings every day since. Thank you to all of the brides and grooms who liked our work enough to request a meeting! We just booked our 24th wedding of the year today, so we've still got 6 dates available. We'll be at the Wedding Festival on Feb. 2nd in Greenville, and should be all booked up shortly thereafter. We always feel so honored when you guys choose us as your photographers. Honestly, our wedding photos are some of our most treasured possessions and it's truly an honor when we're asked to capture that for someone else!
Now, on a less sappy note!... we had the chance to travel to Hawaii a few months back and while we were there, we hired a photographer to do beach portraits of us. Boy is it tough to be on the other side of the camera!!! We're really happy with the results though! Our CD of pictures just arrived, so now it's the tough choice of which ones will we print to hang in our house. We promise... well, HOPE to write again soon.

jumping on the blog craze...

We've talked about creating a blog for a while, in order to give our clients a chance to get to know us better and we've finally taken the time to do it!! Hopefully we'll be able to stay up to date and let you know about all of the things going on in our life.
2007 was our most exciting year yet and 2008 has gotten off to a great start! We spent most of our time over the holidays with our family and we also got to spend a few days at Daufuskie Island off the coast of Hilton Head (see photo above). If you've never been there, look into going. It's a great island with a beautiful beach. We wish we could have stayed longer, but we had to get back upstate to get ready for our first wedding show of the year. For each of you that we got to see/meet at the Hyatt yeaterday, we wanted to say thanks for stopping by our booth. Wedding shows are always exhausting, but it's great to see all of the new brides excited about planning their wedding. Our next show will be on February 2nd at the Carolina Expo Center. If you're able to attend, please stop by and say hello.
We'll write more soon. Take care everybody!
